#3 Peak District Bucket List – White Nancy, Bollington

White Nancy

We headed out to Number 3 on our Peak District Bucket List, the White Nancy & Waulkmill Waterfall – Bollington.

Waulkmill Wood/Waterfall is located on the slopes of Kerridge Hill, close to the town of Bollington in East Cheshire on the edge of the Peak District. The walk can connect you to various footpaths in the area – we decided to take the route up to the White Nancy, which has some fantastic views of the surrounding areas and nature.

The White Nancy is a structure at the top of Kerridge Hill, and it’s certainly the most impressive trig point that we’ve come across so far!
Until at least 1925 the structure was unpainted. However over the years it’s been painted in a number of different colour’s, most commonly white. The White Nancy has also featured a number of different paintings, ranging from the Jubilee Crown, the Olympic Rings and the Remembrance Poppy. Most recently in May 2017, a Manchester bee symbol was painted onto the monument to express solidarity with the people of Manchester after the Manchester Arena bombing. You can read more about the White Nancy on the Bollington Town Centre website – click here.

Overall the walk was moderately easy, with a steep climb to the top of Kerridge hill. We parked off the main road on on a side street, and set off! However there are a number of car parks in the area, the closest one would be Pool Bank Car Park, on Palmerston Street. Park up and then treat yourself to a walk around the Wood and a walk up to White Nancy. This walk is an underrated gem in the Peak District.

We also got some more drone footage, which can be seen on the YouTube video below.
